Listening, reading and speaking skills: Saint Valentine's day
2º BCHTO
14th february is set on as a date when LOVE is celebrated. In Unit 5 and after learning a little bit about Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet we have learnt some vocabulary, idioms and expressions on this topic: love at first sight, love is blind, I fancy for someone... feeling elated when you fall in love with somebody (fall head over heels), ...
Today we are practising Reading and Listening skills in the second language by the following the link which includes a video where we can learn about the possible origins of this celebration.
Then, we'll develop our Speaking skill by having a discussion:
- Do you celebrate "love" on this date? Would you rather do it any other days on the calendar?
- If so, in which way, what do you do?
- Express your agreement or disagreement with this sort of jubilee.
